The world’s first icebreaker condensate tanker launched in Guangzhou

On December 4, the world's first icebreaker tanker which will, mainly, transport condensate oil was, officially, launched. ‘Boris Sokolov’, 44,500 dwt, was built by Guangzhou Shipyard for a major Greek shipping company. The vessel has a unique ability to operate in harsh Arctic winter even in temperatures below -50 degrees Celsius (-58 Fahrenheit). She is, also, equipped with pod propulsion that allows two-way icebreaking capability.

US exports to China reduced by 96%

As we are now two months into the US soybeans trading year, the trade war between US and China is making its impact more apparent, Maritime Strategies International informs. Namely, US exports between September and October are less by 41%, as well as the exports to China (96%). However, there is an increase to shipments elsewhere (86%).
