On December 4, the world's first icebreaker tanker which will, mainly, transport condensate oil was, officially, launched. ‘Boris Sokolov’, 44,500 dwt, was built by Guangzhou Shipyard for a major Greek shipping company. The vessel has a unique ability to operate in harsh Arctic winter even in temperatures below -50 degrees Celsius (-58 Fahrenheit). She is, also, equipped with pod propulsion that allows two-way icebreaking capability.

Medical staff from the EU NAVFOR and the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army completed medical exercises on board the EU NAVFOR flagship ESPS Castilla. There were also realistic simulations with the evacuation of casualties onto helicopter.

US and China reached an agreement to pause their trade war and come up with a deal to give a boost in decreasing global growth. Commenting on the agreement, President Trump called it a bis steps forward for the US-China relations.

As we are now two months into the US soybeans trading year, the trade war between US and China is making its impact more apparent, Maritime Strategies International informs. Namely, US exports between September and October are less by 41%, as well as the exports to China (96%). However, there is an increase to shipments elsewhere (86%).

Indonesian-based company Jaya Samudra Karunia (JSK) has taken delivery of the 26,000m3 floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) 'Karunia Dewata', the largest FSRU to be built in China and the first to feature Type C cargo tanks. The unit was built at PaxOcean’s Zhoushan Shipyard to Lloyd's Register’s (LR) Rules

After a chemical tanker leak at China's Quanzhou Port, in the beginning of November, seven people got arrested. Namely, six people from the company that caused the leak and four crew on board the ship were put under criminal coercive measures. In addition, the investigation of the incident showed that the total amount of the leak was 69.1 tonnes and not seven as initially reported.

A China’s former trade negotiator has raised questions about the country's plan in the trade war with the US. According to Long Yongtu, who participated in China's entryn to the World Trade Organization, believes that the government made an error by immediately retaliating against US tariffs. 

The Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration signed a Cooperation Agreement with the China Maritime Arbitration Commission, on 13 November, to promote maritime arbitration, as an effective solution of maritime disputes. SCMA and CMAC will cooperate through joint conferences and programs.
