The Port of Antwerp, Port of Zeebrugge and the Chilean Ministry of Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to make green hydrogen flows between Chile and Western Europe a reality.

More than 50 ports and terminals in Latin America, as Terminal Zárate in Argentina, Terminal Puerto Rosario in Argentina, Terminal de Buenaventura in Colombia, Port of Santos in Brasil, Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso in Chile and San Vicente International Terminal in Chile, are currently working with the blockchain-based digital platform developed by IBM and Maersk, TradeLens.

During an IMO workshop in Viña del Mar, Chile, September 30 - October 2, participants discussed the challenges on the effective ratification and implementation of MARPOL Annex VI and the initial IMO strategy on reduction of GHG emissions from ships. 

The Chilean Navy confirmed the spillage of 40,000 litres of diesel into the sea in a remote and 'pure' area of the South American country’s Patagonia and added that they are working to eliminate the fatal effects. The Chilean Navy embarked a pollution response and control team that will use specialized elements to mitigate the effects of oil spilled into the sea.

IMO informed that it has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Republic of Chile, to extend Chile's technical assistance to countries in the Caribbean region, in addition to Latin America. The MoU on Technical Cooperation will support the provision of experts to deliver training in Latin America and the Caribbean.
