Lloyd's Register announced that it has awarded full-term classification certificates to BP, for its newest North Sea asset, the Glen Lyon floating production storage and offloading vessel, in the Schiehallion and Loyal fields, 175 kilometres west of Shetland.

ESPO announced that it has awarded with PERS certification the Port of Barcelona (Spain), Port Authority of Melilla (Spain), Niedersachsen Ports Emden (Germany), Shannon Foynes Ports Company (Ireland) and Shoreham Port Authority (UK). The number of ports under the EcoPorts network certified with the PERS standard has risen to 28 members.

ClassNK said that it will commence operation of the world’s first comprehensive electronic certificate service for classification and statutory certificates, starting from 15 June 2017. The service, ClassNK e-Certificate, will first be made available to Liberian-flagged vessels on the ClassNK register exclusively.

DNV GL has granted Navis an MRV Ready classification for its Bluetracker MRV module. According to DNV GL, Navis's Bluetracker MRV module meets the EU monitoring, reporting and verification regulations, supporting the prescribed monitoring methods, while collecting all MRV-relevant data.

Australia will not de-harmonise the IOPP Certificate from the HSSC (Harmonised System for Survey and Certification) for Australian flagged ships. However, if an owner chooses to bring forward all surveys, AMSA would not object as the ship will remain compliant with the HSSC. AMSA clarifies that a foreign flagged vessel arriving in Australia with a de-harmonised IOPP Certificate would be acceptable if the flag Administration has allowed the de-harmonisation.

Arcadia Shipmanagement became the first company to receive verification from classification society DNV GL, for compliant monitoring plans for their whole fleet, under the new EU MRV regulation. The company was presented with a certificate recognizing the achievement at DNV GL’s Piraeus office.

The first ships to be classed with Lloyd’s Register’s cyber notations have been delivered to Global United in Korea. Built by Hanjin Heavy Industries, in collaboration with Alpha Ori Technology, the ships have been awarded the notation Cyber (AL-SAFE) certifying the autonomous systems onboard as safe.

The Liberian Maritime Authority issued a Marine Notice, in order to provide clarification on references to the paragraph in regulation I/2, relating to requirement that a Convention certificate must be kept available in its original form on board the ship on which the holder is serving.

Columbia Shipmanagement was certified by DNV GL that complies with the highest standards in energy and safety management. Torsten Schramm, President at DNV GL, recently presented the ISO certification for the standards ISO 50001:2011 and OHSAS 18001:2007 to Carsten Sommerhage, Director of Columbia Shipmanagement (Deutschland), at the shipping company’s offices in Hamburg.

Leclanché MRS is the first marine battery system of its type approved by international certification body DNV-GL under revised rules. It is going to be used on the E-ferry in Denmark, the world’s largest, 100 per cent electric ferry by battery capacity, equipped with a 4,3 MWh Leclanché Lithium-ion battery and scheduled for launch later this year.
