Cruise company, Carnival Corporation, announced that the second and last engine room module for AIDAnova, which was manufactured by the Neptun shipyard in Rostock Warnemünde, will be sent to the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg.

AIDAnova is the first cruise ship in the world to operate with the lowest-emission fossil fuel thanks to the four dual-fuel engines.

On 13 September, Carnival Corporation's Coast Cruises held a steel-cutting ceremony for Costa Smeralda, the brand’s first ship powered by LNG, at the Meyer shipyard in Turku, Finland. The ship is part of a strategic plan from Carnival to build seven LNG-powered ships for its 103-ship fleet.

Costa Cruises, part of Carnival Corporation, issued its sustainability report for 2016, informing that it achieved to reduce carbon footprint by 5%, SOx emissions by 9% and NOx and PM10 emissions by 4%, compared with the previous year.
