Carnival Corporation, the world's largest cruise company, has signed an agreement of cooperation with Norwegian-based NGO Bellona Foundation to focus in improvement of environmental and sustainability impact, as part of their shared vision of a more sustainable cruise industry.

A new international cruise terminal will start operations in Brisbane within two years, as the Port of Brisbane and Carnival Australia announced they had reached a commercial agreement. The Brisbane International Cruise Terminal at Luggage Point will be operating by mid-2020.

Major cruise firm Carnival Corporation officially opened its second cruise terminal at the Port of Barcelona with an inauguration ceremony attended by government, business and community representatives. The Helix terminal will accommodate Carnival's new class of next-generation "green" cruise ships to be fully operated by LNG.

When the water line broke on the cruise ship "Carnival Dream", on Thursday, May 3 , it flooded one of the ship’s decks. At that time the ship was sailing in the Caribbean. The ship continued its voyage without problems and it returned to its homeport of New Orleans on Sunday, 6 of May. The crew needed 6 hours to replace the damages.

Carnival Corporation announced that it placed a new order for the German brand AIDA Cruises.The new LNG-powered ship will be built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, and is expected to be delivered in 2023. The ship will have a gross tonnage of more than 180,000 and an estimated 2,700 cabins.

According to Carnival, the company will launch a new port development project in Ensenada, Mexico, which is featured on the line’s three and four day cruises from Long Beach. The project aims to provide guests visiting the destination with experiences ashore, along with attractions for guests of all ages. 

The ship will be delivered in 2020, and will be the largest cruise ship to be built specifically for the British market. It will feature 180,000 gross tons and will be able to welcome approximately 5,200 guests. Both new ships will be registered in the UK. The first of the new ships will begin operations in September.

A 44-year old female passenger travelling aboard 'Carnival Elation' cruise ship lost her life Friday morning, after she fell from her balcony to several decks below, while the ship was underway on four-day trip to Bahamas.

Five people were injured, one of them seriously, during a routine training exercise on the Bermuda-registered Carnival Cruises' vessel 'MV Arcadia', in Ponta Delgada, Azores, on Saturday. The lifeboat broke from its cabling and fell from its davits into the sea, with five crew members onboard.

Carnival Corporation announced the launch of four new cruise ships in 2018 across four of its 10 global brands: Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Seabourn, and AIDA Cruises. AIDA Cruises's 'AIDAnova' will begin operation in December 2018. AIDAnova will be the first cruise ship fully powered by LNG.
