Carnival to borrow $3 billion in financing to boost liquidity

Carnival Corporation reported that it expects a loss this fiscal year and is following steps to enhance liquidity, by borrowing $3 billion for six months under an existing credit facility. According to Bloomberg, the largest player in the cruise industry is reducing investments and expenses and looking for additional financing.

Carnival inks 5-year agreement with City of Norfolk

Carnival Cruise Line inked a fire-year agreement with the City of Norfolk, Virginia, to operate seasonal cruises from the Half Moone Cruise Centre through 2025, with Norfolk investing in the city’s cruise centre to welcome larger vessels.

Despite quake, Puerto Rico’s cruise tourism remains unaffected

Despite the recent 6.4 magnitude earthquake in Puerto Rico, which interrupted electrical power service and resulted damage to the one side of the island , the cruise tourism reported to remain unaffected. According to local officials, Puerto Rico’s Old San Juan cruise port welcomed about 15.000 cruise passengers while greeted them with music in the city’s streets.

Carnival Cruise bans ‘offensive’ clothing

Carnival Cruise Line announced that they changed their policy clothing prohibiting “offensive” clothing, in protection and respect of the passengers aboard, following the response from other travel sectors about passengers displaying messages that others find offensive or threatening.
