A US jury indicted two more employees of Ripley Entertainment, Inc., the operating company of the duck boat that sank at Table Rock Lake last summer, resulting in the deaths of 17 people, the US Department of Justice announced. 

Hungarian authorities announced they had found no evidence of alcohol or drug abuse by the Captain of the cruise ship 'Viking Sigyn' that hit and sank a small tourist vessel last month, causing one of the most fatal maritime incidents on Danube River in the last century.

The captain of the cruise vessel 'Viking Sigyn' was released on bail on Wednesday, two weeks after the fatal collision with another tourist boat on the Danube River, Budapest, that killed a total of 28 people, marking one of the worst disasters on the river in the last century. 

Sewol ferry sank on 16 April 2014, in South Korean waters taking the lives of over 300 people, most of whom where kids on a school excursion. Four years later, in August 2018, the official panel investigation on the accident said it could not find exact causes for South Korea’s deadliest maritime casualty since 1970.

The Bournemouth Crown Court has started trial over a crash incident in Poole Harbour, southern England, September 2017, when the Captain of the 50ft-long ferry 'Maid of Poole' reportedly crashed on purpose on a dinghy, injuring the driver, over a parking row. 

The owner and captain of the Malaysian-flagged fishing vessel ‘Buah Naga 1’, that was boarded and arrested by Tanzanian law enforcement agents as part of Operation Jodari, have pleaded guilty to the charge of Unlawful Possession of Shark Fins in a plea agreement with Tanzanian prosecutors, Sea Shepherd informed. 

The Captain of the Panama-registered oil and chemical tanker ‘Pegasus’ was fined $1,000 and removed from his position for exceeding the alcohol limit in New Zealand waters, prior departing New Plymouth on the evening of December 11. Maritime NZ’s Regional Manager Central, Michael-Paul Abbott, said that the sentencing is a strong reminder for seafarers.

After the Captain of the P&O Cruises-operated ship 'Azura' was fined for 'deliberately breaching the European air pollution limits', there are reports that Carnival is planning to appeal the court's ruling. It also added that it takes serious consideration into protecting the environment and that the Captain was using the fuel in good faith.

A Marseille court has eventually imposed a fine of  €100,000 (USD 114,000) to the American Captain of the P&O Cruises-operated ship 'Azura' for 'deliberately' breaching the European air pollution limits, in a first of its kind ruling, on Monday. However, the court specified that the €80,000 of this sum must be paid by the P&O Cruises' parent company, Carnival. 

The defense team of the cruise ship Captain who was charged over breaking the sulphur limit in the Mediterranean over the summer, said that the European rules unfairly distinguished between the limits applying to cruise ships and these for cargo ships.
