The International Group of P&I Clubs issued a circular providing an update on the US sanctions on the government of Venezuela and Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PdVSA). On 5 August 2019, the US increased its sanctions programme against Venezuela, with the Executive Order 13884.
Norwegian Government’s State Secretary Marianne Hagen commented on maritime security in the Western Indian Ocean, during a ministerial conference. She highlighted that Somali piracy hasn’t been eradicated yet. The State Secretary noted that Norway wishes to maintain its capacity on prosecuting and imprisoning pirates here in the region, with Mauritius, the Seychelles and Kenya as important partners.
The Arctic Council has been recognized for its “continuous commitment the development and environmental protection of the Arctic” by the Sea Surveillance Co-operation Baltic Sea (SUCBAS), the cooperation of the Baltic Sea navies including Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania
