APM Terminals announced that the West Africa Container Terminal (WACT) which is located in Onne Port, invested in two new Mobile Harbor Cranes. This is in addition to an investment of approximately USD2.5 million already made this year.

From 1st August 2019, Maersk Logistics & Services will integrate APM Terminals Inland Services, as part of the company's strategy to offer end-to-end logistics & services. The Inland Services portfolio is a network of inland terminals consisting of 36 business units with over 100 locations. 

APM Terminals Gothenburg launched The Gothenburg Gateway. The Gateway will ensure that a container placed on a freight train anywhere in Sweden is loaded onto a large ocean-going vessel within 48 hours, and will shave up at least a week off the transit time to Shanghai.

APM Terminals announced a new Port Moves Per Hour (PMPH) record for a vessel berthed at Juan Carlos I berth, Algeciras terminal, in South Spain, after 187,82  PMPH were registered on the Panamanian-flagged container ship MSC Kalina, on Monday, 25 March.

All seven ship-to-shore and 20 RTG ultra-modern gantry cranes have arrived for installation in the Port of Tema, Ghana, as part of a $1 billion investment by APM Terminals and partners. With crane commissioning and operator training now taking place, the Port is on schedule to open on 28 June 2019. 

On 28 February, Costa Rica welcomed the inauguration of APM Terminals Moín which is expected to enable products to be shipped on transatlantic routes to European and Asian markets without transshipment. The Terminal will also move Costa Rica to number 1 for connectivity, out of 139 countries ranked by the World Economic Forum.

APM Terminals Barcelona, Spain has increased reefer capacity by 31%. The electrical capacity of the terminal has also been enhanced, leading to a reduction in CO2 emissions of 600 tonnes per annum. In addition, 152 reefer plugs have been added at the terminal, increasing the total to 677. New reefer racks facilitate reefers to be stacked up to 4 containers high.

Vessels coming to Liberia are now able to berth at the Freeport of Monrovia any time of the day. Consequently, the waiting time has decreased and has improved efficiency and reduced logistics cost, APM Terminals Liberia announced on February 13, 2019.

In its latest South America Container Trades report, Dynamar focuses on the growth that has returned in America after three years of reduction in its global trade. The report highlights the development after economic contractions between 2014-2016, with a recovery in 2017. The overall container carryings between South America and the rest of the market experienced an increase of over 10 million TEU in 2017, 8% more than 2016. The report expects South America containerized trade to reach 14 million TEU in 2021.

The Navis N4 Expert Decking Module, the system which automates yard planning, has resulted in major efficiencies in yard and quay operations at APM Terminals' Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT). The system is used to automate planning by distributing containers throughout the yard based on predefined rules. Typically yard planning is extremely time-consuming, costly and inaccurate.
