Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has received approval in principle from Lloyd’s Register for a cargo handling system design for a 6,600 m³ LNG bunkering vessel. The design was jointly developed by HMD and the Hyundai Heavy Industries Corporate Research Centre.

PANASIA has announced that it was granted Approval in Principal (AIP) for De SOx Scrubber system by classification society ABS. In order to be granted the AIP, the De SOx Scrubber system was subject to a series of risk assessment techniques to determine if the concept provides acceptable levels of safety in line with current marine industry practice, requirements and standards.

DNV GL has awarded Kawasaki Heavy Industries an Approval in Principle for their newly developed non-spherical tank. The new tank is a IMO Independent Type B LNG tank, that has been developed for use in 180KM3 LNG carriers designed to pass through the new Panama Canal.

DNV GL presented Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, with an approval certificate, for a new double side hull LPG carrier design – LPG SAFE, which is the first LPG carrier design to provide the safety benefit of a double side hull, while offering the same cargo carrying capacity and the same construction cost as a conventional design.

ABS is working alongside industry to enable the critical advancement of technically innovative designs. Therefore the Classification Society, has granted Approval in Principle for the Seatransporter-DF, a dual-fuel design concept developed by Algoship Designers Ltd which has the capability to accommodate multiple engine types as well as Type-C or membrane containment systems for LNG fuel.

DNV GL has awarded the Chinese scrubber manufacturer Shanghai Bluesoul Environmental Technology with an Approval in Principle in recognition of the technical feasibility of the BlueSulf scrubber system, which is the first of its kind for a scrubber according to the new DNV GL rule set, and the first for a Chinese scrubber manufacturer.

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) have announced that they received an Approval in Principle for a 2MW Supercritical CO2 Power Generation System recovering waste heat of a diesel/gas engine from Lloyd’s Register. The two companies plan to commercialize the next generation S-CO2 system by 2019.

ClassNK has issued Approval in Principle for a 7,500 cbm LNG bunkering vessel designed by HHI. This design is the result of joint research for improving the efficiency of LNG bunkering vessels.
