ABB’s MRV module has been certified by Verifavia, as a tool to monitor all parameters to comply with the EU’s MRV regulation requirements. As a standardized MRV compliant software platform, the ABB module collects and visualizes data from onboard sensors on a ship’s fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions on a per-voyage basis.

ABB will equip two DFDS vessels with shaft generators that will raise their energy efficiency, in order to meet the latest environmental regulations. Two shaft generators will be installed in each of the cargo Ro-Ro ships, allowing the main engines to operate at a wider speed range.

Desgagnés has taken delivery of the M/T Damia Desgagnés, a new vessel recently completed in Turkey. The vessel is the first dual-fuel powered Canadian-flagged tanker and the first-ever asphalt carrier of this type, build according to an original concept developed by Desgagnés and ordered at the Besiktas shipyard located in Turkey.

ABB will supply the power and electric propulsion system to a new Floating Storage and Regasification Unit for BW Group. The equipment onboard will provide data to the shore-side Centers in order to give a proactive approach to maintenance throughout the lifetime of the vessel.

The digital offerings include performance management solutions for asset-intensive industries, control systems for process industries and others.

ABB announced that its OCTOPUS marine software will improve the safety and efficiency of four new semi-submersible heavy lift vessels, owned by Greenland Heavylift Holdings. The ships will transport gigantic cargoes, with OCTOPUS providing a tailored route for each voyage that is updated with fresh weather data throughout the transportation.

Longyearbyen is the largest settlement and the administrative centre of Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. Today, Longyearbyen obtains its electric power and district heating from its coal power plant, the only one in Norway. A recent study shows that shipping surplus energy to Svalbard in the form of liquid hydrogen could mean annual savings of more than NOK 100 million.
