ABB said that its upgraded vessel control software package  is delivering the measurable operational efficiency gains promised to StenaLine for the freight ferry Stena Scotia within a month of commissioning. 

ABB provides a new marine software to support the research voyages undertaken by ‘By the Ocean we Unite’, the charitable organisation whose mission is to highlight the damage done by the millions of tonnes of plastics that end up in the world’s oceans every year.

ABB announced that its turbochargers are powering the main engines and auxiliary engines of the largest containership ever built in China, a 20,000 TEU vessel named COSCO Shipping Taurus, launched in June 2017. ABB announced that, from mid-2017, it will launch a new frame size for its Power2® 800-M two-stage turbocharging solution, that will allow more vessels to benefit from the high efficiency and fuel savings. Power2 800-M's design achieves an overall turbocharging efficiency of more than 75 percent, some 10 percent higher than conventional single-stage models.

Nor-Shipping Charity Fun Run co-sponsor DNV GL and event participant ABB, who are sending a team of 19 runners, called for more businesses to register teams for this year’s 5km charity fun run. Taking place on Monday 29th May, the event aims to raise £100,000 for Nor-Shipping’s 2017 partner charity, the Mission to Seafarers, the world’s leading maritime welfare charity.
