Swire Pacific Offshore (SPO) reported that all seven abducted crew members have been released, and have met with the company’s senior representatives, taken for health checks.
Specifically, the company stated that
Swire Pacific Offshore (SPO) is pleased to confirm the release of the seven crew members of the Pacific Warden abducted offshore the coast of Equatorial Guinea on 20 November 2019.
After 31 days of being captive, the crew were taken for medical checks and other necessary arrangements were organised and all have now returned to their home countries and their families.
The company applauded the crewmembers and their families for their patience and courage throughout this ordeal.
We are relieved that it has been possible for the crew to be reunited with their families in time for the Christmas and year-end holidays, and SPO will continue to provide them with our full support in recovering from the trauma of the event.
… added the Managing Director, SPO, Peter Langslow.
Overall, the abduction took place in November 20, when the company confirmed that seven crew members aboard its Pacific Warden, an Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS), were kidnapped by pirates offshore Equatorial Guinea.
