The Port of London Authority announced that essential work on a vessel maintenance and checking ‘grid’ at Strand on the Green was completed just days before Christmas. After £30,000 of work on the 30m long by 10m wide grid, it is fit for a further twenty years’ service.
Boat owners and operators on the Thames use the grid to check their boats at low tide. Gathering to mark completion of the work were grid owners, the Port of London Authority (PLA), contractors Pat Walsh and Stand on the Green residents.
Lee Walker, PLA project engineer said
“I’m pleased we were able to deliver this refurbishment for the river community just in time for Christmas.”
