Stolt Tankers B.V., has entered a long-term agreement with SFL Corporation Ltd. for two LNG dual-fuel 33,000 deadweight tonne stainless steel chemical tankers.
The fuel-efficient ships ships, built in 2022-2023, feature 22 cargo tanks for cargo flexibility. Stolt Tankers and SFL Corporation (SFL) expect to take delivery of the ships between June and August of this year with one ship secured under a fixed time-charter agreement while the other will be employed in the Stolt Tankers Joint Service (‘STJS’) pool.
Udo Lange, CEO of Stolt-Nielsen, highlighted the benefits of this transaction, including securing attractively priced tonnage in a firm chemical tanker market, reducing the fleet’s age profile and carbon intensity, and offering flexibility in the core 33,000 deadweight segment.
Meanwhile, Ole B. Hjertaker, CEO of SFL Management AS, expressed excitement about the new relationship with Stolt-Nielsen, emphasizing the favourable market dynamics for stainless-steel chemical tankers and the combined opportunity for fixed-rate charter and pool earnings to participate in a strong market and provide cash flow support.
