SSI has recently become a member of the OCX Consortium, a collaborative effort aimed at establishing a universal standard for the digital exchange of vessel design data.
The OCX Consortium focuses on creating a common format for data exchange that allows vessel designers and shipyards to share 3D design data with classification societies, independent of the software used in the design process. This standardized OCX format streamlines the exchange of necessary data and documentation related to the asset design, facilitating verification and approval before construction begins.
Furthermore, the OCX Consortium’s commitment to data standards simplifies data exchange between class societies and designers, promoting the use of 3D data throughout the vessel’s lifecycle.
The OCX Consortium is delighted to welcome SSI to its collaborative community of industry leaders; its participation will add further weight to the use of common standards for the exchange of vessel design data

With ShipConstructor already supporting the creation of 3D vessel design models, SSI users can export these models in the common OCX file format. This allows class personnel to assess the design’s viability and compliance with class rules, SSI notes.
Using the OCX standard means designers using our ShipConstructor programme don’t have to figure out how to provide files and accompanying data to different class societies in different formats
