Spirit of Discovery completed its conveyance across the river Ems on May 26 at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. After sailing through the Ems barrier, the ship reached the Emden sea lock, with the help of tugs.
The cruise ship was conveyed on the river Ems to Emden during the night.

Transiting to Emden, the vessel passed sea lock in Papenburg, Friesen bridge in Weener and Jann Berghaus bridge in Leer. After that it reached the river Ems barrier in Gandersum.
Following the Ems barrier, it reached the Emden sea lock, with tugs helping it.
Now, Spirit of Discovery will undergo technical and nautical sea trials on the North Sea.
The cruise ship is the first of two vessels ordered from Meyer Werft by Saga Cruises. It has an overall length of 236 meters and a width of 31.2 meters. Its sister ship, Spirit of Adventure, is planned to be completed in 2020.
