The Spanish Harbour Masters (Maritime Authorities) agreed to support the “Boarding Program for Maritime Cadets” launched by the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine together with IMO.
During the last Harbour Masters meeting, which took place in Madrid, it was agreed to support the “Boarding Program for Maritime Cadets” established by the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine.
Namely, all applications of Cadets for boarding that may be submitted through the Harbour Master’s Offices, will be processed through the Capt. Antonio M. Padrón, IMO Maritime Ambassador, who coordinates relations with national and foreign shipping companies in order to provide available positions for Nautical Students to conduct their compulsory training period at sea.

Having started in Spain country, the Program has a total of 519 students from different countries: Cape Verde, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cote d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Georgia, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, US and Venezuela, of which 299 are Spanish.
Through the Program, a total of 111 students have been embarked, with the collaboration of more than 100 national and foreign entities.
