Posh Mogami barge sinks 2 nautical miles northeast of Sekupang
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) received a report that a Singapore-registered barge POSH MOGAMI sank 2 nautical miles northeast of Sekupang, Batam, on Friday (18 July) night.
There were nine persons on board the barge when the incident happened. It was reported that the semi-submersible barge was carrying out submerging trials at the time of the incident. Indonesian authorities have since rescued 6 persons (2 Singaporeans, 1 Malaysian, 1 Dutch, 1 Filipino, 1 Indonesian) and recovered 3 bodies (1 Singaporean, 1 Chinese, 1 Myanmar national)
As the Flag Administration of POSH MOGAMI, MPA is investigating the cause of the incident with the relevant authorities.
