SAFETY4SEA is pleased to announce the distinguished shortlisted nominees for the 2025 SAFETY4SEA Awards, following an online nomination process, initiated a few months ahead within the scope of fostering Safety Excellence & Sustainable Shipping.
These prestigious awards aim to recognize organizations within the maritime industry that demonstrated safety excellence and performance above average, contributing to a more sustainable industry. The online voting process has started at https://events.safety4sea.com/2025-safety4sea-virtual-awards/ where participants can cast their votes online up to 11th of July 2025.

SAFETY4SEA Sustainability Award

- Columbia Group has been nominated for its strong commitment to ESG practices, serving as a model of sustainability in the maritime industry. The company is actively implementing practical solutions to reduce its environmental impact, enhance crew welfare, and adopt innovative technologies.
- Global Maritime Forum has been nominated for launching the 9 Sustainable Crewing Guidelines, aimed at protecting seafarer well-being and ensuring resilient supply chains. These guidelines were co-developed with 12 major shipping companies after years of research and pilot programs involving over 400 seafarers.
- Hellenic Hull Management (HMA) Ltd has been nominated for its pioneering role in sustainable marine insurance. The company has joined the UNEP FI Sustainable Blue Economy Finance Initiative and is a founding member of the Poseidon Principles for Marine Insurance, among other sustainability efforts.
- InterManager has been nominated for its ongoing advocacy around the dangers of enclosed space entry. The Association has raised awareness through the publication of incident statistics, the submission of safety papers, and a recent collaboration with The Nautical Institute and IMarEST on a survey examining fatalities in enclosed spaces.
- International Group of P&I Clubs has been nominated for establishing the Personal Injury Committee, dedicated to addressing personal injury claims in the maritime sector. The Group collaborates with organizations across the shipping industry to promote health, safety, and the protection of life at sea.
- One Sea Association has been nominated for its efforts in fostering collaboration among maritime stakeholders and advocating for autonomous shipping. The Association works closely with industry partners to address regulatory challenges and advance the development of autonomous maritime transport systems.

- Arcadia Shipmanagement Co Ltd has been nominated for its efforts to protect whale-sensitive areas by rerouting vessels away from the Hellenic Trench, reducing underwater noise, and promoting awareness through updated procedures and partnerships. The company is also exploring the SAvE Whales initiative as part of its commitment to marine conservation.
- ATPI Marine Travel has been nominated for its Crew Change Logistics (CCL) portfolio, which prioritizes safety and duty of care to minimize risks and enhance crew wellbeing. The initiative includes 24/7 real-time tracking, alerts, coordination, and emergency communication.
- Dry Bulk Centre of Excellence (DBCE) has been nominated for launching the Dry Bulk Management Standard (DryBMS) platform—an online self-assessment tool that helps stakeholders evaluate safety management practices across 30 key areas within the four DryBMS pillars.
- International SOS has been nominated for its Maritime Digital Medikit, which enhances crew healthcare on board. The kit includes six medical devices—such as a 12-lead ECG connected to an iPad—and provides access to a 24/7 medical team for remote diagnostics.
- Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) has been nominated for leading the Maritime Security Training project with ANCORS, University of Wollongong. The initiative fostered collaboration among maritime agencies, government bodies, and academic institutions on key maritime security issues.
- Pacific International Lines has been nominated for its PIL Academy, launched in 2024 to invest in workforce training and development. PIL is committed to upskilling its employees, supporting career advancement and international mobility, and facilitating sea-to-shore career progression.

- Agwa has been nominated for its innovative technology that ensures farm-fresh vegetables onboard vessels. Agwa’s system combines AI-driven image analysis, sensory data, and insights into user behavior. With real-time monitoring via an intuitive app, crew members can easily access and manage their fresh produce.
- Flyability has been nominated for its Elios 3 UT maritime drone, which is capable of collecting all the data needed for inspections—including close-up visuals, UT thickness measurements, digital twins, gas sensors, and more. This allows inspectors to safely conduct inspections from the deck without putting themselves or their teams at risk.
- Kaiko Systems GmbH has been nominated for its comprehensive maritime AI assistant, KAI, which revolutionizes vessel inspections and maintenance. KAI offers unique features such as image enhancement in low-light conditions and rapid analysis of inspection images, enabling operators to make quicker, more accurate decisions.
- ORCA AI has been nominated for its Orca AI platform, an advanced system designed to enhance maritime safety and navigation through cutting-edge technology. The platform not only provides visual data but also generates alerts when potential risks or navigational challenges are detected, offering actionable recommendations to the crew.
- ShipIn Systems has been nominated for its FleetVision™ platform, an innovative solution that uses onboard camera footage powered by Artificial Intelligence to reduce incident risks and improve cargo operations across a global shipping fleet.
- UNIMED – Universal Marine Medical has been nominated for its MedScale+ online platform, which transforms healthcare accessibility in the maritime industry. The platform streamlines medical supply management, compliance tracking, and offers 24/7 telemedicine support, ensuring the health and safety of seafarers worldwide.

Launched in May 2024, NexusWave ensures consistent performance levels regardless of a vessel’s location or specific requirements, while offering complete transparency.
- Iridium Communications Inc. has been nominated for Iridium Certus® GMDSS, which includes distress alerts, safety voice communication, and Maritime Safety Information (MSI). It also integrates additional regulated services, such as Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) and the Ship Security Alert System (SSAS).
- Μarlink has been nominated for its Port-IT Crew WiFi, a highly scalable, airtime-independent solution that enables shipowners to easily and affordably provide onboard WiFi for vessels of any size via the web. The plug-and-play device connects directly to a VSAT or Fleet Broadband terminal, ensuring quick and simple deployment.

- Nordic Maritime Cyber Resilience Centre (NORMA Cyber) has been nominated for its efforts in enhancing members’ cyber resilience by providing threat intelligence, as well as incident and crisis response services. NORMA Cyber also supports the Norwegian Coastal Administration in its role as the sectoral response function for cybersecurity.
