A shipyard worker died as he was working on a newbuilding vessel at the Fukuoka Shipbuilding in Japan. According to reports, the worker had been injured while cleaning the ship’s cargo tank, and later succumbed to the injuries.
Sources report that the worker fell during works in the cargo tank of the chemical tanker newbuild. He was later found unconscious and was transferred to the hospital for medical treatment. However, despite efforts, he lost his life.
The ship was to enter Odfjell Tankers during 2020, with the company being its commercial manager. However, the vessel is not owned by Odfjel.
Currently, the company has five newbuilds on order. Three are chemical tankers and two are gas carriers.
