China’s Shanghai International Port Group continues leading the way as the world’s busiest container port for a ninth year in a row. The port reached the 42.01 TEUs container throughput in 2018, experiencing an increase of 4% in comparison to 40.23 TEUs that were recorded during 2017.
Mainly, the port achieved RMB 10.28 billion net profit in 2018.
The port enhanced because of the contribution recovery in the global economy, as China’s import and export business keeps increasing.

According to the port’s 2018 performance brief report, it has also been improving service capability and efficiency to achieve continued stable growth.
Moreover, Shanghai port container terminals, equipped with most advanced facilities, located in Yangshan, Waigaoqiao and Wusong areas, have 46 container berths, and over 6m square metres container yards.
Finally, Singapore continues as the world’s second largest container port Singapore reported an 8.7% growth in container volumes to hit 36.6m teu last year.
