Scottish Canna Renewable Energy and Electrification will develop a wind, solar battery storage project on the Isle of Canna in Scotland. This project aims to reduce the use of the three diesel generators that are currently powering the island.
The Isle of Canna was granted £1.3m to build the system. Canna Renewable Energy and Electrification will own and operate the project, as well as lease the old generators and cables from the owner National Trust for Scotland. Almost all of Canna’s electricity needs will be supplied by solar panels and six small wind turbines.

The construction of the project is expected to start in April and will last seven months to complete.
