Schulte Group joined forces with Huayang Maritime Center and Haikou Xinhaina Port and Shipping Technology Co. for the establishment of a new joint venture that provides training.
The collaboration, named BSM-HMC Maritime Services, aims to develop a robust local network to train and nurture the next generation of Chinese seafarers. The venture will provide training to Chinese crews on Hainan Island, in southern China.
Together, not only will we be able to ensure the supply of highly trained Chinese crew to the Schulte Group’s owned and managed vessels, but also enhance the competitiveness of China’s seafarers in the global crew pool and provide more high-quality talent to the whole maritime industry.
…stated Ian Beveridge, CEO, Schulte Group.
UNCTAD data show that China alongside The Philippines, Indonesia and India, is one of the largest suppliers of seafarers and officers in the maritime workforce globally. Furthermore, according to the China Maritime Safety Administration, at the end of 2020 there were over 120,000 Chinese seafarers that served on international levels.
