The Taiwanese navy will seek compensation after a Saudi Arabian-flagged oil/chemical tanker ‘NCC Sama’ hit one of its frigates, in the harbor of Keelung in the morning hours of Saturday, local media reported.
According to data provided by Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA), the NCC Sama was entering port at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, when it hit the ‘Ning Yang’ frigate FF-938 in the middle of its port side.
There were no injuries reported as a result from the incident, but the country’s Ministry of National Defense said it would seek compensation for the damage to its ship.
At the time of the incident, the Sama was scheduled to unload 3,100 tons of ethylene glycol in Keelung harbor.
AIS data show the NCC Sama is currently moored in Keelung.
There was no oil spill reported.
