South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries Co. revealed on Thursday that it is to sign a USD195 million deal, for construction of an LNG carrier.
The shipbuilder namely said that it will ink an agreement within this month with a ‘foreign company’, without though disclosing the name of the company.
The ship will have capacity of transporting 180,000 cubic meters of LNG and she will be probably delivered in 2020, according to local media.
If the deal goes as planned, orders secured by SHI this year will reach the 28 ships, of a total worth USD6.9 billion, exceeding the company’s annual target of USD6.5 billion.
The company also won in September a USD968 million contract, for six megamax container ships ordered by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), to be the world’s largest container vessels, upon delivery by the end of 2019.
