South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) announced that it has developed a next-generation FLNG model to target customers who want quick and efficient development.
According to the company, the multi-purpose LNG Floater has received Approval in Principle from DNV at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC 2023) in Houston on the 1st of May.
In addition, SHI has standardized its ship model and specifications by implying its various FLNG EPC experiences and technologies.
As informed, MLF-N standardizes shapes of LNG cargos and widths and heights of hulls surrounding them, so the cargos’ capacity could be easily extended from 180,000m3 to 245,000m3. It is also designed with a stable structure to support about 50,000 tons of upper plant facilities including natural gas liquefaction modules.
MLF-N is the best solution to meet customers’ needs who want easy, simple and fast LNG development. We will continue to take a lead in FLNG through customer-oriented technology innovation.
..said said Haeki Jang, CTO of SHI.
SHI noted that it has won four out of five new orders for FLNG vessels placed worldwide, showing unrivaled competitiveness in the field.
