A chief petty officer from the destroyer USS Jason Dunham lost his life after being hit by a forklift at Norfolk Naval Station on October 16. The incident took place on the base’s Pier 14.
Base emergency services personnel arrived to the area, in order to transport the victim at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. However, he was pronounced deceased shortly after.
After notifying his family, the U.S. Navy informed that the deceased was a chief culinary specialist aboard Dunham. An NCIS investigation into the circumstances of the accident has already.
