Each presenter shared their experience and expertise on soft skills and how they impact the quality of our work and lives. Through their presentations, they underlined the urgency of assessing and developing soft skills, for the better future of seafarers in the maritime sector.
The increasing demands in regulation and technology makes soft skills really imperative to carrying out the work of seafarers as it is today,
…Shipping Deputy Minister Ms Natasa Pilides shared during her opening speech at the Conference.
Nowadays, most jobs require people across silos to work together to solve complex and ambiguous problems. For this reason, Deloitte forecasted that in 10 years, 2/3 of all the jobs would be soft-skills intensive. And shipping makes no exception. Complex equipment onboard, sophisticated operations and unpredictable weather require crews that are not only technically prepared for the challenge, but are able to work together to address it,
…Dr Luiza Shahbazyan said during her presentation at the Conference.
Soft Skills are considered to be the No. 1 trend in transforming your organisation.
…Michael. R. Virardi stated during his keynote speech at the Conference.
The event attracted many industry professionals, including representatives of some of the biggest shipping companies in the market, who came together for an evening of valuable discussions and networking opportunities.
The Conference was organised in conjunction with a project of SafeMetrix (ENTERPRISES/0916/0028), implemented within the framework of “Research in Enterprises” Programme and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus through the Research and Innovation Foundation.
