Rotterdam World Gateway recently welcomed two new deep-sea cranes, built by ZPMC in China. Specifically, the newest cranes, the largest of their kind are expected to be operational in the second half of 2020, while they will further advance and boost the terminal’s services and capacity.
In fact, the deep-sea cranes a lifting height of 56 meters and are capable of handling container vessels up to 26 rows wide. Following the two new cranes, RWG has also invested in 25 Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), as part of the terminal’s upgrade.

Moreover, the unloading of the cranes takes approximately ten days, after which they will be put into operation on RWG’s quay in the coming months.
Overall, speaking of port’s expansions, Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) inked an agreement with Konecranes for the supply of two eco-efficient mobile harbor cranes for its terminal at the Port of Savannah. After handover in July 2020, the cranes are expected to improve the terminal’s flexibility in handling containers and general cargo.
