The world’s largest container ship, ‘MSC Gülsün’, is expected to call the Port of Rotterdam on Tuesday, 3 September. Between 2 and 3 p.m., the ship will be calling on the APMT2 terminal at Maasvlakte 2.
The MSC Gülsün arrived in Europe on 21 August, after completing its landmark maiden voyage from the north of China.
With a length of 400 metres and a width of 62 metres, this vessel has a capacity of 23,756 TEUs, making it the largest container ship in the world.
MSC Gülsün is the first vessel of its kind that can transport 24 containers side by side across the breadth of its hull.
South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries delivered the ship to the Swiss Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) in early July.
The vessel is the first of the six 23,000 TEU-class vessels that MSC ordered in 2017.
Until recently, the 21,413-TEU OOCL Hong Kong, which was taken into service two years ago, ranked as the world’s largest container ship.
