Twelve marine companies issued at the Port of Rotterdam a plan concerning the construction of ‘Rijnhaven Marina’ on the west side of the Rotterdam South Bank; it will be a port to accommodate luxury super yachts and become a tourist attraction. The construction will create 200 to 1000 jobs. The market itself wants to cover the investment of 12 million euros.
Mainly, the Rijnhaven Marina consists of floating jetties, a ‘promenade promenade’ and a terminal. 40 to 50 berths provide space for larger yachts built in the region or for existing super yachts from home and abroad.
Up to now, yachts that have been built in yards in the region, are moored in the industrial port.

In addition, the Marina will offer a more attractive business card for future yacht owners.
Rotterdam is geographically ideal for yachts sailing between the Mediterranean and northern destinations such as Iceland.
Moreover, in the plan, the Marina is connected to other functions of the Rijnhaven such as the current ‘bulbs’, the floating event location, and the possible floating swimming pool.
A large part of the marina such as the Marinakantoor, catering facilities, promenade and sun terrace is public, so visitors can see the ships up close.
The initiators to take part in the construction aspire to be leaders in the filed of sustainability, concerning shore power and environmentally friendly intake of ballast water.
In the Rotterdam Maritime Capital region, a number of yards for and suppliers of super yachts have already been established, such as Oceanco, Feadship, Damen, De Haas, Alphatron Marine and Atlas Paint Consultants.
Concluding, the Rijnhaven Marina is supported by Rotterdam Maritime Board, Zeelander, Damen, Kotug / Rotortug, KRVE, De Haas, Alphatron Marine, EBT Yacht panels, the Netherlands Maritime Land and the Port of Rotterdam Authority.
