At least 12 people are still missing and 8 critically injured after an explosion on a BP Oil Rig in the Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana.
The US Coast Guard says the BP operated DeepWater Horizon Oil Rig, located 50 miles from Venice in Louisiana, was still on fire after an explosion around 10pm local time Tuesday night April 20.
The Deep Water Horizon Oil Rig had 126 workers on board when the explosion took place. Boats in the area were called to help pull people from the water and at least one life raft was deployed.
A tanker in the area with a helipad and sick bay was called to the area, and a number were taken on board.
The US Coast Guard took at least 8 people to hospital via helicopter. A number of private and government boats rushed to the area to help.
