The Republic of Marshal Islands has issued Marine Safety Advisory on the requirements needed to meet provisions of the international convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Manila Amendments.
The provisions of the Manila Amendments will come into full effect on 01 January 2017. All seafarer documentation issued by the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Maritime Administrator (the “Administrator”) will be required to comply with the provisions of the Manila Amendments.
Seafarers will need to submit documentary evidence of compliance with these provisions in any application that is submitted to the Administrator for the issuance of seafarer documentation.
The Administrator will start requiring compliance with these provisions on 01 October 2016, to ensure that documents issued will be valid after 31 December 2016.
