Repsol Sinopec has restored production at three North Sea platforms, after shutting them down because of pipeline repairs. Repsol had closed the platforms two weeks ago, repairing a problem with the main export pipeline from the Claymore platform to the Flotta oil terminal in Orkney.
In addition, production had also stopped from the Tartan platform and Cnooc’s Golden Eagle installation.

Now, a temporary repair has been made, allowing the production to be restored to the the platforms. Claymore is located about 100miles north-east of Aberdeen.
Moreover, additional maintenance will take place at the Claymore, as a summer shutdown is planned.
According to Repsol, the issue had to do with a leak of hydraulic fluid, and not oil. Thus, there was not a risk of a hydrocarbon leak.
During April, Repsol revealed its plans to extract 10million additional barrels of oil from the Claymore, Tartan and Piper Bravo installations.
