Neste, KPI OceanConnect, and Global Energy have partnered to bring Neste MY Renewable Diesel to the marine sector in Singapore.
As informed, Neste MY Renewable Diesel is designed to help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in sectors that rely on diesel engines, including heavy transportation, mining, and construction. Produced from 100% renewable raw materials, it serves as a direct replacement for fossil diesel and can be used in any diesel engine. Its use can achieve up to a 90% reduction in GHG emissions over its lifecycle compared to fossil diesel. With a chemical composition similar to traditional diesel it requires no modifications to engines or fuel infrastructure.
This first supply of Neste MY Renewable Diesel to the marine sector in Asia-Pacific marks a significant milestone for the industry and demonstrates the versatility of the product across a wide range of applications where it can replace fossil diesel.
… said Ee Pin Lee, Head of Commercial APAC, Renewable Products at Neste.
Leaders from Neste, KPI OceanConnect, and Global Energy highlighted the collaboration as a milestone in providing high-quality biofuel, demonstrating the benefits of renewable diesel for environmental goals without compromising operational efficiency.
By working closely with Neste and Global Energy, we were able to offer a high-quality biofuel to our client, laying the groundwork for further fuel uptake and decarbonisation progress. This successful delivery is a testament to how partnerships can help advance the industry’s green transition,
… commented Jesper Sørensen, Head of Alternative Fuels and Carbon Markets at KPI OceanConnect.
Meanwhile, Chow Munee, Group Business Manager at Global Energy, stated that the company supports the industry’s transition to renewable diesel by ensuring seamless and reliable delivery using a Maple barge, emphasizing that this is achieved without compromising operational efficiency. Munee expressed pride in contributing to these important efforts within the maritime sector.
To remind, according to the Maritime & Port Authority Of Singapore (MPA Singapore), bunker sales of biofuel blends increased to 520,000 tonnes in 2023, which more than tripled from 140,000 tonnes in 2022. Meanwhile, industry experts and fuel suppliers expect that the positive trend will continue the next years.
