The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) has announced the results of the survey on the enlisted Greek Seamen in merchant ships of 100 GRT and over, under Greek or foreign flag contracted with the Seamen’s Pension Fund (NAT) for the year of 2016.
According to available survey results, the total number of enlisted Greek seamen increased by 2.8%, in 2016 compared with 2015. The number of Greek seamen enlisted on ships under Greek flag increased by 2.5% and on ships under the foreign flag contracted with NAT by 5.8% .
As regards the categories of specialties of the Greek seamen enlisted on merchant ships under Greek and foreign flag contracted with NAT, the senior personnel increased by 1.5% in 2016 compared with 2015. Respectively, the seamen enlisted as lower personnel increased by 3.2% in 2016 compared with 2015. Finally, the number of Greek seamen enlisted as cadets increased by 25.6% in 2016 compared with 2015.
