According to ReCAAP ISC, during 15-21 January 2018, one incident of armed robbery was reported concerning a Panama-flagged cargo vessel, called ‘Mito’. The incident took place in Indonesia, as the vessel was anchored at the Ciwandan port.
Specifically, the armed robbery took place on January 11, at 07.00 local hour.
While the vessel was at anchor, the engineer that was on duty found out that the door to the spare part rooms was broken.
After finding out, he immediately reported the situation to the chief engineer and first officer.
After inspecting the vessel, the crewmember resulted to missing spare parts of the generator.
In the meantime, the crew remained uninjured.
In conclusion, as the engineer on duty reported the incident to both the agent and the shipping manager, he increased the number of crew on deck.
