LNG giant Qatar Petroleum (QP) has issued an invitation to tender for engineering procurement and construction (EPC) of the four LNG mega-trains on its North Field Expansion project. QP announced that the tender package was issued to three EPC joint ventures.
Specifically, QP issued them to JVs between Chiyoda and Technip, JGC and Hyundai, and the trio of Saipem, McDermott, and CTCI.
The tender has to do with four mega-LNG trains, that will be equipped with gas and liquid treating facilities, ethane and LPG production and fractionation, a helium plant, and utilities and infrastructure to support the processing units.

The four new trains are part of GP’s aim to expand Qatar’s LNG production from 77 million tonnes per annum (mta) to 110 mta by 2024.
Moreover, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the president and CEO of QP, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, noted
This tender package comes in line with Qatar Petroleum’s plan to move into the next significant phase of the North Field Expansion project, which will culminate in the award of this EPC contract in January 2020.
He continued that the project comes at a time when all expansion projects are efficiently developing, according to plan.
The tender follows the recent contract award for the fabrication and installation of eight offshore jackets for the North Field Expansion project to McDermott and the contract award for early site works for the onshore project to the joint venture between CCC and Teyseer.
