PSA Singapore is collaborating with the Energy Market Authority (EMA) with the goal of improving Singapore’s port operations, by making them more efficient and reducing the overall energy usage and carbon emissions. Both participants will launch R&D grant calls in the smart and energy sector, in favour of the container ports at the Pasir Panjang Terminal.
Specifically, the R&D grant will consist of the integration renewable energy sources, as solar power, and smart control networks.
Ngiam Shih Chun, EMA Chief Executive commented
EMA is pleased to expand the portfolio of our industry partnerships. Today we are partnering both PSA and Shell Singapore to develop our energy sector in the areas of energy storage and in digitalization.
Ong Kim Pong, Regional CEO Southeast Asia, PSA International, continued that energy storage solutions are of a great importance for the port, as they boost the goal of better integrating solar energy. In the meantime, digitalization will participate in making the ports’ power systems smarter and more efficient.
According to the EMA, the R&D grant call is open for applications until July 17,2019.
