PSA Norway conducted an audit of Equinor focused on drilling and emergency preparedness on the Statfjord C facility. The audit took place from 1 to 7 June 2018, and regarded Equinor’s management of drilling and emergency preparedness on the Statfjord C facility.
The audit wanted to verify that Equinor has systems for ensuring well control competence and the integrity of well control equipment, as well as a emergency preparedness organisation on board, in order to handle effectively a well control incident.

PSA Norway focused on established processes to ensure that assumptions, prerequisites, limitations and recommendations in the emergency preparedness analysis for Statfjord C were provided and that these are communicated to the emergency preparedness organisation.
The audit identified one regulatory non-conformity, which regarded the function testing of boosters for the shearing function of blowout preventers.
It also identified improvement points for the use of emergency preparedness resources and systems for training and drills.
PSA asked Equinor to report on how the non-conformities will be addressed by 31 August 2018, and for their assessment of the improvement points observed.
