The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Marine Safety Control Centre informed that on 31 January 2023, a prime mover with the driver in the vehicle fell into the sea at Keppel Terminal Berth.
The MPA patrol craft was deployed immediately to set up a cordon to assist in the operations. The body of the driver was recovered from the prime mover by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
The person was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.
There is no impact on traffic movement in our port waters. Investigations are ongoing.
In another incident in Singapore, an MSC containership grounded off Batam after departing Singapore. According to reports, there are no injuries and the vessel is now sitting on an even keel.
As relevant authorities noted, an evacuation process was underway, raising concerns that the 24 crew were being removed from “MSC Faith”. Hpwever, it was later clarified that the officials were referring to the process to secure and refloat the vessel.
