a NSC/MPHRP Anti-Piracy Workshop
NATO Shipping Centre (NSC) and the Maritime Piracy Humanitarian Response Program (MPHRP) jointly organise an anti- piracy workshop seminar which is planned for 5th February 2013 in Seoul . This seminar is entitled: “Prevention is better that Cure – a NSC/MPHRP Anti-Piracy Workshop” ‘
The aim of workshop is to focus upon the piracy threat and promote the use of BMP among shipping companies, masters and crews transiting piracy infested areas, as well as focusing on the humanitarian element (MPHRP) pre-, during and post-release. It offers a unique opportunity to take part in a tactical floor run by NATO Shipping Centre supported by an expert panel from the navies NATO, EU/UKMTO, MPHRP, ship-owners and operators, as well as others from the local shipping industry. The panel is expected to include Mr Gary S. Porter (Clipper Group), Capt. Ian Shields (OCIMF), Mr Roy Paul (MPHRP), Mr Simon Church (MSCHOA MNLO) and Lt Cdr Nick Smith (NSC Staff Support Officer). The panel may also be joined by a Seafarer who has experienced being pirated for a long period of time and local Korean shipping industry representative.
