India along with Portugal shake their hands and inked an MoU for the development of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat. Namely, the agreement was signed from the President of Portugal H.E.Mr Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and the Minister of National Defense of Portugal, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya.
The MoU on National Maritime Heritage Complex, Lothal will pay the way for cooperation between the two countries for showcasing common Maritime Heritage. NMHC will consolidate all diverse and rich artefacts from ancient to modern times. It will provide access to public and make them aware about India’s rich Maritime Heritage.

Through the agreement, Portugal and India will share their experience, technical, design knowhow and maintenance service expertise for the establishment of the National Heritage Complex.
Moreover, the two countries inked a cooperation agreement in order to collaborate in the field of the Maritime Transport and Ports.
This will open avenues for better operation of merchant fleets, cooperation to harmonize and unified position with International Organization Institution and Forums.

In fact, this cooperation goals to enhance the Maritime Transport between the two countries, boosting the operations of their merchant fleet, while harmonize and unified their position with International Organization Institution, forums and conferences related to Maritime and Port activities.
