Standard Club recently issued a circular to inform shipowners and operators about the stricter epidemic procedures on boarding personnel and crew changes operations at the Port of Guangzhou, China.
According to the circular, the process of epidemic control is stipulated in Article II, according to which, persons who board the ships of international, Hong Kong and Macao routes berthing at Nansha for operations, are required:
- to be registered on a list
- to have been vaccinated against COVID-19
- to have had a training of epidemic prevention measures by port operators
What is more, the stricter epidemic control on boarding personnel has been announced by Nansha District of Guangzhou City hange for ships of International, Hong Kong and Macao Routes at Nansha Port Area.
For the records, agents, surveyors and other personnel for boarding operations or services are all applicable to this provision.
As explained, only listed persons, including surveyors, who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and have had a training of epidemic prevention measures by port operators could be permitted to board the ships for any operation.
“It would be quite challenging to arrange the inspection/condition survey on board the ships in the near future as few surveyors are eligible at present. As far as we know, although this announcement is from Nansha which is just a district of Guangzhou, most ports in or near Guangzhou are taking similar epidemic control measures”.
…as the circular concluded.
