In connection with work on the technical installations of the new Botlek bridge, several road sections at the Botlek bridge, which is the hazardous substances route, have to be temporarily closed for all traffic. The port highlighted that the closure may extend longer or stop shorter than necessary. Also, in case of bad weather conditions, the work will be postponed.
Specifically, the closure takes place on week 3
- on January 16 from 22:00 until January 17, 05:00 hours.
On week 5
- on January 31, 22:00 to February 1, 05:00 hours;
- on February 1, 22:00 hours to February 2, 05:00 hours.
The closure focuses on
- Dangerous material route of the A15 parallel carriageway Left (Ridderkerk – Rozenburg) near the Botlek bridge, including ramp 17 (Hoogvliet) and the ramp from the Vondelingenweg;
- Dangerous material route of the A15 parallel carriageway Right (Rozenburg – Ridderkerk) at the height of the Botlek bridge, including ramp 16 (Spijkenisse) and the ramp from the Plaatweg.
In order to avoid the traffic jam, concerning diversion route A, the port noted that the traffic towards Europoort can use the Botlek tunnel.
Also, traffic from Hoogvliet is sent to the spot by yellow signs via ramp 17 (Hoogvliet) to the A15 parallel carriageway on the right, exit and ramp 18 (Rotterdam-Heijplaat).

Additionally, transport of dangerous goods (ADR), which is not permitted by the Botlektunnel (category D), is diverted on a large scale via the N3, A16, A17, A59, A29, N59, N215 and N57.
On the other hand, diversion route B, traffic to Rotterdam can move through the Botlek tunnel.
The traffic towards Hoogvliet and Pernis is diverted on the spot with yellow signs via the Botlek tunnel, A15 parallel carriageway Right, exit and ramp 18 (Rotterdam-Heijplaat).
Transport of dangerous goods (ADR), which is not permitted by the Botlektunnel (category D), is diverted on a large scale via the N3, A16, A17, A59, A29, N59, N215 and N57
