One of the world’s largest container vessels, ‘COSCO shipping Pisces’, that has a capacity of 20.000 TEU, was docked at port of Piraeus on February 15, after voyaging for one month from China. This is the vessel’s first voyage, after its delivery on January 15.
After the vessel’s docking, the management of port of Piraeus Container Terminal offered a souvenir to the Master of the ship wishing the future journey of the ocean-going ship to be safe and smooth.

As the captain of ‘Pisces’, Xu Dexiang, addressed, the vessel is amongst the ten of COSCO Shipping’s Constellation series of vessels that are all named after the 12 constellations in the zodiac family.
Specifically, concerning the vessel, it is 400 metres long, almost 60 metres wide, 71 metres high and has a design speed of 22.5 knots/hour.
The container vessel is eco-friendly, providing various features, such as shore-power system, ballast water management systems and low fuel and energy consumption.
In addition, the vessel consists of intelligent energy efficiency management system that focuses on monitoring and the management of consumption of fuel, energy, and ship speed optimization.
The system allows for one-man bridge operation, securing COSCO Shipping Pisces a spot in the new generation of ‘smart ships’.
Finally, the ship will dock at Piraeus for 24 hours before starting its trip to the port of Antwerp in Belgium.
