Amid the COVID-19 outbreak and the travel restrictions that has brought, Port of Helsinki reported a serious impact upon its port business and decided to temporarily dismiss its entire personnel.
According to the port:
The coronavirus pandemic and the related travel restrictions have heavily impacted the business of the Port of Helsinki. Because of this, we have been forced to start extensive cost reductions. As a part of the reduction plan, the Port of Helsinki Ltd and its employees have agreed that the Port’s personnel will be temporarily dismissed.
What is more, the decision was made in the co-operation procedures that ended on 19 May 2020.
In light of the above, port’s personnel will be dismissed for 30 days among the beginning of August and the end of the year, and for a maximum of 30 days in early 2021.
We will attempt to arrange the temporary dismissals so that they do not cause inconveniences for our customers or operations.

Moreover, Port of Helsinki management sector, will participate in the adjustment measures by waiving their holiday bonuses for 2020.
Overall, several months ago, Port of Helsinki and its partners issued to the European Union three funding applications in relation to the port’s environmental future, aiming towards a better environment and sustainability.
