They chained themselves to a woodchip cargo ship
Tasmanian police have arrested four protesters who chained themselves to a woodchip cargo ship at Bell Bay in northern Tasmania.
Police say the protesters broke into the port yard about 6:00am.
Two protesters tied themselves to a conveyor belt and two suspended themselves over the ship with heavy chains and locks.
A police search and rescue team were called in to cut the protesters free.
They have been taken into custody and charged with trespassing.
Police say it is possible they could face further charges.
About a dozen protesters at gates of the port have called on the timber company Artec to stop its native woodchipping operation.
