EMSN developed by MONALISA 2.0
A pioneering network of simulator facilities and ship bridges across Europe are now connected as never before. Enabled by the latest technology, the European Maritime Simulator Network (EMSN) is a unique platform that can simulate complex, real-time traffic situations at sea across large distances. Now participants can better evaluate their capacity to handle search and rescue operations and oil spills.
EMSN has been developed under MONALISA 2.0. The network allows information to be transferred between simulators of different brands.
The platform, the European Maritime Simulator Network (EMSN), was inaugurated during Monalisa 2.0’s midterm conference in Barcelona in November
2014. The first large-scale sea traffic management tests in December proved the value of the platform. EMSN is truly ground breaking as it allows simulators of all brands to be connected across large distances in a virtual network.
Organisations can now choose to collaborate with those with similar interests, rather than being limited to thosewith the same system. The network
Makes it possible to simulate complex traffic situations and to evaluate the
Capacity to handle search and rescue operations and oil spills.
At the e-Navigation conference in January 2015, China and Korea expressed interest in joining already this year.
MONALISA 2.0 is a European-wide Maritime project, including 39 partners from 10 countries. The partnership is a collaboration between the private, public and academic sectors and is co-financed by the European Union. The total project budget is EUR 24 million. The project was formally approved and signed on November 5, 2013 and will operate until the end of 2015. For more information on the project visit:www.monalisaproject.eu Also viewrelated video. |
